Milan Fashion Week 2025: Jil Sander Minimalism, Demna’s Gucci & Margiela Disruption

Every silhouette was architectural, calm, and commanding. This season marked a turning point for Jil Sander under Simone Bellotti’s creative direction. Bellotti introduced “lighter, refined development” — architectural tailoring softened by
• Demna at Gucci: Demna brought a sharp, deconstructed energy to Gucci. Oversized tailoring and unexpected juxtapositions disrupted the brand’s heritage in a good way. His debut leaned into provocative duality twisted logos, reimagined archives, and hybrid silhouettes. Interestingly, he chose a “photo-based presentation” plus a cinematic short film The Tiger (directed by Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn)
• Maison Margiela: True to its mythology, Margiela stayed unconventional. Deconstruction, narrative layering, and tension-driven forms reminded us that even in refined settings, beauty can emerge from disruption. Margiela reminded us that luxury can thrive on friction. Deconstruction and layered storytelling disrupted Milan’s polished reputation, proving rebellion may also have a place.
This season also marked Giorgio Armani’s final show following his passing at 91—a moment of reflection amid innovation. Milan is not just about perfection anymore; it’s about risk, narrative, and cultural commentary.
